These photographs were taken during recent trips to the Camelback Mountains, located near the Biltmore on Camelback and 44th Street, near the Phoenix Area. This is a wonderfully scenic location with two paths to the summit, each a particular challenge to the uninitiated. While the path to the top seems simple and straightforward, the mountain has a way of creating illusions of reaching the summit long before you're even there. All of this effort is not wasted, though, as the climb is well worth the beautiful view overlooking all of downtown Phoenix, Scotsdale and Paradise Valley. The best time to hike is during the early morning or evening, just before sunset. The average time for this hike is about 2 hours round trip.
